Goal(s): Powerlifting and Overall Fitness
Date: April 25th, 2025
My original goals when I started were to learn the fundamentals of powerlifting, improve my overall physical fitness, and eventually work toward competing in the sport. I was drawn to powerlifting because it felt empowering, structured, and goal-oriented—something I could consistently work at and measure my progress over time. Beyond just getting stronger, I wanted to feel more confident in my body, improve my mental discipline, and be part of a community that values resilience and hard work. Competing was always in the back of my mind as a long-term goal, but more than anything, I wanted to prove to myself that I could commit to something challenging and see it through.
I knew that achieving my goals would require guidance and accountability, which is why I chose to work with a coach. I’m incredibly thankful for Max, Jess, and Hailey—each of them has supported me at different points over the past nine years. I’ve been training with Hailey for almost two years now, and the impact they’ve all had on my life—both in and out of the gym—has been truly transformative.
Over the past nine years of training with my personal coach, I’ve competed multiple times and achieved significant improvements in both my mental and physical health. The discipline and consistency have positively impacted all areas of my life.
All three of my personal trainers have been more than just coaches—they became lifelines. In moments when I felt like giving up, they were the steady voices reminding me of my worth and my strength. They cheered for my smallest victories like they were monumental and held space for me when I was overwhelmed. They didn’t just shape my body—they helped rebuild parts of me I didn’t even realize were broken. Their belief in me helped me believe in myself again, and I carry that with me every day.
Over the last nine years, the gym and powerlifting have completely transformed my life—physically, mentally, and emotionally. What started as a way to get stronger turned into a lifelong commitment to self-discipline, confidence, and resilience. I’ve not only seen my body change, but I’ve also grown mentally tougher, become more focused, and learned how to push past limits I didn’t think I could break. It’s given me a sense of purpose and pride that carries into every other part of my life.
Just start. You don’t have to be strong, confident, or perfect—you just have to be willing. Powerlifting taught me that growth comes from showing up, pushing through the hard days, and believing in your potential even when it feels out of reach. Getting a coach changed everything for me—and now my mom is on her own journey too because she saw what was possible. If you’re thinking about it, take the leap. You’re capable of so much more than you think.
